After naming the Android 4.4 Kitkat – a chocolate bar with small waffles inside – Google may decide to keep up with the Nestle products. It is seems, that the Internet search company prepares a new version of its popular mobile OS. This one is dubbed to be 5.0 or Lion. The information comes from a leak with the benchmark result of the this years update of the smartphone Nexus 5. The new device (which some people refer as a Nexus 6) is been expected in the late 2014, but still there is no official confirmation about it or the new version of the Android.
The rumor is essentially a screenshot of the benchmark test of the new device. We can read on it: “Phone: Nexus 5 (2014)”, “OS: Android 5.0 (Lion)” and the tech specs of the smartphone. They include 5.2 inch display with 1440 x 2560-pixel resolution, Snapdragon 805 quadcore processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and 12-megapixel rear camera. The origin of the leak come from this Tweet where you can see the attached photo.
The source of this rumor is not too much reliable, but there is a lot of logic if this speculation come true. Google has named its Android versions using sweets in alphabetic order from the first letter. The last version – 4.4 is Kitkat and was the first one which is named on a candy made by Nestle. The leak suggests that the next 5.0 will be Lion, also a sweet product made by Nestle. If the rumor is the real thing, then we have very good and possible long-term partnership between Google and the food company. If this is just a fake – well it will be a good one. Also if the leak come true the new version sounds better, confident and it’s shorter than Ice Cream Sandwich for example.
So there is some plausibility in this rumor, but it is better to have a more different and reliable sources of information to be sure about it.
