LG may announced its next curved smartphone – the LG G Flex 2 in CES next week. Rumors suggested that the South Korean company is preparing the new device to debut in Las Vegas in the coming days.
The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is one of the biggest annual tech exhibitions and traditionally is one of the first in the new year. In 2015 it starts from 6th to 9th of January.
According to some reports from South Korean blogosphere the LG G Flex 2 is expect to be officially announced in the next week during CES. Sources of the local website Naver suggested that LG will presented the new handset in Las Vegas. They also pointed out the new device will be equipped with a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. If this come to true that will be one of the first high-end smartphones based on that chip from Qualcomm.
Naver’s report also claimed that the LG G Flex 2 will have LTE-A – a improved 4G capabilities, but the user experience will depend on the mobile network.
Previous rumors also give some light about the new device. It will be a little bit smaller than the LG G Flex 2 predecessor. It will not have 6-inches screen, but the resolution will be buffed from 720p to 1080p. The expectations are for 5 or 5.5-inches screen. Like the 2014 model the new one will have curved display and “self-healing” coating. It is a special material which allows the device to eradicate small scratches in the back.
The first LG G Flex was pretty expensive and still holds a price tag of $749 without contract. The smaller screen may give a chance for the South Korean tech giant to reduce it.
Next week in CES is expected some of the leading manufacturers to introduce the first wave of the next flagship smartphones. The LG G Flex 2 is one of the first with more hard evidence for possible debut in the next week. Some of the producers may try to wait until March to introduce their high-end handsets – in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
