Apple confirmed almost all of the rumors for its iPad event this evening. The company from Cupertino revealed iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 (both coming in gold option color), Retina display iMac, a small and relativity iMac Mini and Mac OS X Yosemite. All this line up was expected without any big differences of the specs or features as it was rumored. The not so big surprise was the absence of the laptops MacBook Pro and the compact MacBook Air and the only big busted rumor was that Apple didn’t hint anything about bigger 12.9 inch iPad. It is notable that the tech giant showed off a minor update of the iOS 8.1 which was not expected.

Gold status

Apple updated its tablet line with iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. The first one is standard 9.7-inches device now only 6.1 mm thicker. It has anti-reflective coating on the glass which improves visibility and fingerprint ID-Touch scanner. The second feature will allow the iPad to be use for Apple Pay payment service. For now – only for purchases within apps. Apple also said that will be powered by second generation 64-bit A8X processor in line with the projections. Also the tech giant improves the camera and adds 8-megapixels back one with slow motion capabilities. Price starts from 499$ for Wi-Fi only and 629$ for the cellular and Wi-Fi versions.

The iPad Mini get its less than five minutes in the presentation and the compact version has similar updates. Improved 7.9-inches display, updated 5MP camera and ID-Touch sensor. Price starts from 399$ and 529$ for the Wi-Fi and cellular version respectively.

Both tablets have gold coloring option, one of the leading rumors from couple of months. Will be available in the US from next week.

Pixels matters

The desktop computers line of Apple also got some buff. First the iMac got its long waited Retina display. It will not be 4k, but the mean 5k or 27-inch screen with 5210 x 2880 pixels. As it was rumored in the past weeks. There was some speculations that Apple will drop the Retina display, but it didn’t hold. The new computer will have 3.5GHz Intel i5  processor with option for 4GHz Intel i7 CPU, Radeon R9 graphic card, 8GB of RAM, 1TB Fusion disk drive and it will cost 2499$. The little surprise that was not on the speculation list is that Apple will sell smaller 21.5 inches iMac at 1099$. Also the company from Cupertino showed off improved Mac Mini at 499$ price. As it was rumored few weeks before.

The tech giant presented the new version of the Mac OS X Yosemite platform which was also expected. In the last few days emerged speculations that Apple will not show new MacBook Airs. And those reports were right, we didn’t see new laptops at all, neither MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

The biggest rumor that didn’t survive the blender? The bigger 12.9-inches iPad was not mention or hinted in the Apple’s presentation. The second but smaller rumor was that the company will ditch the 16GB version of the iPad Air, which didn’t happened and Apple showed off 16, 32 and 64GB versions of both tablets.  And those things are busted!
