Lot of things happened in the IT world in 2014 – lot of tech rumors were placed, busted or confirmed. Also there are a lot of cliffhangers – speculations which may become true in the coming 2015. The first months of the year will be very intriguing – the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas is just days away, with a lot of long awaited possible debuts, Microsoft is expected to unveil further details about its new Windows 10, Apple may unleash a bigger 12 or 13-inches tablet and so on.
The tech rumors before CES
According to the tech rumors in the past few weeks it seems that in CES we may see a lot of launches or at least a sneak-preview of a handful flagship smartphones. The show in Las Vegas is primarily focused in the TV’s and other consumers electronics and the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the arena of more mobile stuff. But in the recent years the IT giants made some smartphone debuts during CES.
It is speculated that Samsung may show off its new Galaxy S6, but the South Korean company may decide to do it on MWC in March.
The recent leaks of HTC One M9 may suggested that the Taiwanese giant is preparing to present its new flagship next week. LG also may show its curved screen handset G Flex 2 or its more flagship oriented G4. Similar move is expected from Sony to reveal its portfolio of Xperia 4 devices.
But still it is not clear if those smartphones will be presented in CES or MWC. One thing is for sure – the next wave of flagships will be interesting this year because of the intensifying competition and maturing market.
And in 2015 is expected for the Google’s Project Ara or modular smartphone to kick in and to hit the market in very limited test quantities.
Apple’s new devices
Apple will sometime this year to release to the market its Apple Watch. This is expected in the first months of 2015 – more probably February or March. However it will not be the only interesting device from the company from Cupertino.
In the past months the Web was bombarded with speculations for the next model smartphones – iPhone 7 (or iPhone 6S). You can see some round up of the most interesting tech rumors about the plausible new handset here.
The smartwatch will change the game for Apple but it is also reported that the company is preparing a bigger 13-inches iPad Pro. The new tablet was expected for debut in 2014, but eventually was not revealed. The tech rumors are still alive for this device, so we may see it this year.
Bigger tablets are rumored from other companies too – Sony is reported that it may launch Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra a 13-inches device.
The new 2015 will be pivotal for Microsoft. The software giant is preparing to counterattack on almost all fronts in the consumers electronics spectrum. The company from Redmond is expected to release its Windows 10 which is aimed to blend the desktop and the mobile world more effectively instead of the not so successful try with Windows 8.
With Windows 10 Microsoft may change its defaulting browser and introduce us with Spartan. It will be a new light-weight browser who must fight against Firefox and Chrome.
In the gaming console arena the software giant is reported to prepare a virtual reality gear to be in pair with Sony and Oculus Rift.
And not to forget the tech rumors about the speculated debut of Surface Mini and Surface 4. Also Microsoft is expected to move a little bit aggressive in the smartphone area and to introduce a new flagship.
