Only few hours are left before Microsoft to unveil its first own branded smartphone – Microsoft Lumia. This will be the first device after the software giant acquired the mobile unit of Nokia which will not use the popular Finnish brand name. Instead it will bear the name of Microsoft and the brand Lumia.
The company from Redmond is set to unveil its first branded smartphone Microsoft Lumia in Tuesday. It will be the new flagship of the popular brand so what to expect from it?
First and the most obvious is that it will use Windows Phone operating system. But just a day before the actual revealing of the device it seems that its full tech specs leaked in the Web. It will be called Microsoft Lumia 940 as it continue the 900 flagship line of the old Nokia brand.
Under the hood of Microsoft Lumia
The new smartphone will have a 5 inch Full HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Microsoft Lumia 940 will be powered by a quad core 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM.
In line with every Nokia or Lumia flagship the new one will also featured high end killer camera. The rear camera is set to be 24 megapixel with PureView technology. It will be capable of shooting Ultra HD and slow motion in 60 frames per second. On the front it will be equipped with a 5 MP camera.
The new Microsoft Lumia 940 will have similar design as its predecessor Lumia 930. Also according to the rumors it will come with internal storage with 32, 64 and 128 GB.
If all of the rumors are right this will be one mean Windows Phone and it could grab the consumers attention. But there are doubts about how the new device will be accepted in a markets where the Nokia is still a strong and recognizable brand. Still a lot of consumers doesn’t recognize Microsoft as a device maker.
The other Microsoft Lumia
According to other leaks Microsoft will reveal a device in the lower price segment. The new handset will be called Microsoft Lumia 535 and by the rumors it will have a 5-inch qHD screen, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It’ll also have a 5 megapixel rear camera, a 1,900mAh battery and will support dual SIM cards.
It has some plausibility because Microsoft unveil the 930 in the flagship segment just months ago. The company has no incentive to sell a new device in this class in the coming 2-3 months. It is possible that the Lumia 940 will be sell in the 2015, but still this could sink the 930 sells for the holiday season.
Also Microsoft is needed to update its low-level segment and the Lumia 535 fits very well into this.
Probability of the Lumia 940 leaks: 75%
Probability of the Lumia 535: 85%
